Where cannabis consumption is allowed

Private property with permission

A private residence may be an option when the owner and lease allow it. That permission is essential. Apartment rules, homeowner rules, hotel policies, short-term rental terms, and smoke-free building policies may all prohibit smoking or vaping even when possession is lawful.

Do not assume a hotel balcony, shared courtyard, apartment walkway, or building parking area is private enough. Those spaces can be common or publicly visible, and property policies still apply.

A licensed cannabis consumption area

A licensed consumption area is a cannabis establishment authorized for on-site use. It verifies identification, keeps consumption in designated areas and out of public view, operates only during its reported business hours, and follows state and local safety rules.
